Matt, thanks for taking the time to share, some of what you have come to understand, regarding the Avanex story. I am familiar with most of what you shared, but I find it helps to hear it more and more, as it was all Greek to me initially.

Great post. Wow. I liked your description of the "always-on" connections. I remember reading Gilder's "Intel of the Telecosm" article about Uniphase back in 1997 or 1998, and he described this very paradigm. On the capacity issue, think of a fiber optic cable as the Alaskan pipeline, meters wide, but current DWDM technology is only allowing a mere trickle of oil (lambdas)to pass through it. Think of all the end users as faucets, to turn on or off the neverending flow as they desire. Long AVNX and buying more.
