Such a bold claim deserves some back up, which unfortunately does not exist:

Total casualties from Vietnam was 58,193.

1956-1960, the death toll was 9.

For 1961-1968 the death toll was 36,143, the bulk of it from 1965-1968.

1969, which should still be counted against LBJ, was 11,616.

1970-1975 was 9,586.
