I've had several plays in my IRA (no concern about tax consequences there) with the spread between VSH and KEM. Today, for instance, I sold 5K of KEM at 26 1/8 and bought 4,700 VSH for 27 3/4. I'm betting that over the next week or two the spread expands to 3 or 4 points once more, at which time I'll probably sell VSH and buy back the KEM, scalping (I hope) betwen $7K to $10K. It's hard to imagine VSH not holding its small premium to KEM, so I don't feel I'm taking much risk by temporarily switching horses.
