United Press International Naval News, 16 November 2000

Today the U.S.S. Albert Gore reappeared after being bound in legal ice for a week. Ship's captain Lt. Commander Warren Christopher promptly put two five-inch "CHAD" shells into the bridge of the armed merchantman, the S.S. George W. Bush, which had been lurking near the edge of the ice hoping to make prisoners of the Gore's crew. A third, larger explosion was heard near the waterline, but darkness made assessment of the damage impossible. Seasoned observers speculated that the third explosion was a judicial torpedo. The Bush was last seen listing about ten degrees to starboard, barely making headway in the calm sea. Naval meteorologists predict that the weather will become stormy in the area in the next 24 hours.

At press time, the Gore had signalled the Bush that pending receipt of instructions from Admiral Boies, it would not take further hostile action. The Gore advised the crew of the Bush of the imminent change in the weather, and offered blankets and coffee to Bush's crew should they choose to abandon ship.
