this is what ML said today about chip makers for telecom: " Communications-chip makers declined after Merrill Lynch's Joseph Osha said chip inventories at their customers ``could be as much as 40 percent higher than historical norms,'' resulting in fewer orders for semiconductors in coming quarters. That means the chipmakers could just meet analysts' profit estimates in coming quarters, and they're not likely to tell analysts to raise their forecasts for future quarters, Osha said.
