Perhaps the Dems should've been doing polls, too, instead of making suggestive phone calls to Palm Beach County residents, and then we would know how many Dems in the heavily Republican panhandle didn't show up...

The rule here is simple and it applies to both sides:
If you don't bother to vote, your vote doesn't count.

GOP looking very nervous and you can tell what their strategy is from their moves today. Guessing that Harris's roadblock will be overturned and Gore may go back ahead they are already griping about the GOP counties. This means they will scream for and maybe receive their own recounts and probably a statewide recount by hand. Just what Gore suggested yesterday and Jimmy Carter agreed with. Also giving up on Iowa means the GOP knows they can't win it, and therefore know trying to get all three Wisc, NM and Oregon overturned won't work either. Florida is the GOP's only hope now and if they can't fight then they'll switch, to demanding full hand recounts themselves. For fairness sake the courts will probably grant them that wish and we will finally know for certain who really won Florida. expect the verdict in about ten days.

The Tom Delay (appropriate name) move today to threaten not to approve "tainted" electorals sets up their position just in case the Dems get this delayed until December 18 which would mean if Florida isn't certified it doesn't even count. In that case Delay and Co. would claim that 30 or so electoral votes somewhere else are tainted. Or if Gore wins Florida they could try and make the case that those votes are tainted. But that alone won't keep Gore from winning. If Bush doesn't win Florida then Gore doesn't need Florida to win.

Bottomline, this Florida Judge doesn't like Harris for ignoring his last order and making a completely partisan decision to try and stop the process cold. The Judge may even be a Gore sympathizer. But whatever the case he is a pro and the ultimate authority in that state.
