re: Bell South, they said eps will suffer b/c of spending
for DSL!!!!!

Feshbach , this means that demand for broadband gears is doing very well.
You see you try to bring negative case, but this in fact is good news for vendors.
Now expact RBOCs coming with forecast for higher spending
-------------------------

Atlanta, Nov. 16 (Bloomberg) -- BellSouth Corp., the dominant local-phone company in the
southeastern U.S., said it expects earnings per share next year to grow by 7 percent to 9
percent, down from a previous forecast of 13 percent to 15 percent. The shares fell 7 percent in
after-hours trading.

The new 2001 estimate includes the effect of entering the Colombian market and adding more
customers for DSL high-speed Internet access than previously forecast. The earlier profit growth
estimate didn't include those two items, spokeswoman Pattie Kushner said.

BellSouth said it expects to triple its DSL customers to 600,000 next year. The Atlanta-based
company also may restructure its residential video entertainment business and take an
unspecified charge against earnings.

BellSouth shares today fell as much as $3.25 to $46 in after- hours trading. They fell 38 cents to
$49.25 in regular New York Stock Exchange trading.
