<Al Hunt Complains Gore Team Is Blowing It>

Given the general bent of this thread, I'm sure there are folks here with bad things to say about George Mitchell, but I think he would have a been a much better spokesperson than any of the folks Gore has had up to this point. He's a former federal judge, has a decent demeanor, some credibility as a diplomat given his Northern Ireland succcesses, and a bit of a disarming personality that I think would work much better in this situation than Daley's bulldog persona.

By the same token, I dont think Jim Baker has been a wild success either. It's almost as though someone pulls a string in his back and he starts repeating the same lines all over again, "recount after recount, blah, blah." If nothing else, it would have been helpful for Bush to get someone other than one of his dad's past cronies.

Bottom line, they both could have done better.
