Jim,

I bet you Harris declares Bush winner on Saturday Period, and see what the courts will do then.

NYTimes expects 2200 overseas FL absentees
and something like 300-400 more net Bush vote advantage

How do they get the estimates of gains for Bush?
I hope they don't use some form of exit polls.<g>

My prediction is that the Secretary Harris is going to win the case tomorrow. Feel pretty confident of that. The judge in his first ruling gave her a loophole to make her deadline stick. He basically indicated that it would have to be abuse of her position for him to consider overturning her decison. Since she has used her discretion in making up her mind (using a certain criterea to decide whether extensions should be given), this one should be easy.

She should win quite easily. I think the judge just needed to do a nice write up so that it will stick in the Florida supreme court. It is too hard to prove Harris is abusing her power!

IMHO, she appears to be abusing it (from a distance) but I think it will be extremely difficult to prove it in court. That is what is going to matter.

BTW--i don't really have a preference for a candidate; just want it over ASAP!
