I wouldn't say that Bush should concede, but I think in terms of his ability to govern he would have been much better off agreeing to a hand recount. That way, if he wins the recount he can say, look, the votes were recounted every conceivable way and I still won. And if he loses, he can say that the Democrats had to sue their way to the Presidency and then he could snipe at them as they preside over a likely economic decline.

The way he has acted has been an opportunity lost, and the public is rightly saying to the parties, "a pox on both your houses."

Of course, if there were only two candidates, there would never have been any need for the butterfly ballot and therefore no misunderstanding.

There were other candidates, and at least one of them has integrity and a solid platform based on the U.S. Constitution.

As long as we, as a country, insist on only voting for the two political parties who are more interested in maintaining their own power, than in the interests of the people, we deserve all of this bullshit.

The alternative parties like the Libertarians, Reform, Green, Independent etc..... should be jumping all over this and letting the American people know that there are alternatives to these bozos. Then, maybe next time we can have a campaign and election that includes "the will of the people", instead of just the two parties. If the Dems and the Reps were really interested in the "will of the people", you would think that they would have included the third party candidates in the debates.

Of course, all in my very disgusted opinion.
