Seems to be a trend. All offers eventually dropped

Montreal, Canada, February 24, 2000 — Alcan Aluminium Limited has been informed that an unsolicited tender
offer to purchase up to 8 million (approximately 3.7 %) of the Company's Common Shares at CDN $50.10
(approximately US $34.30) per common share has been made by a firm identified as TRC Capital Corporation.

TrizecHahn does not endorse unsolicited offer

TrizecHahn Corp., Toronto, has revealed that a company called TRC Capital Corp. has made an
unsolicited tender offer to purchase up to 5 million of its subordinate voting shares at C$22.65 per
share, which represents a discount to the current market price of the shares.

TrizecHahn stressed that it is not associated with this offer or with TRC Capital Corp. TRC is a
private investment company based in Toronto. In the past year the group has made similar
unsolicited, below-market offers for St. Lawrence Cement Co., Alberta Energy Co., Emco Limited
and other companies.
CALGARY, Alberta (November 29, 1999) --- ALBERTA ENERGY COMPANY LTD. ("AEC")
said today it has learned that TRC Capital Corporation has made an offer to purchase up to
5.33 million (3.8%) of AEC's issued and outstanding Common Shares at a below-market price of
$41.65 per share. This offer was unsolicited and was not encouraged in any way by AEC. Neither
AEC nor any of its directors and officers is affiliated with TRC Capital Corporation. The offer price is
7% below AEC's November 26, 1999 closing price of $44.85 on The Toronto Stock Exchange.

<<<Their offers are always well below the current price.
