Yes, I think this one is the attention getter. The people see what is happening to them.

What the county-by-county Bush-Gore map that about 10 people have sent my way since last Friday fails to pick up in detail is the overwhelming support for Gore in the major cities: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit.

We have two great divides in this country right now:

1. Cultural.

2. Urban (gun control, for example) vs. suburban and rural (no gun control).

I see these gaps widening in the coming years.

This (>>being browbeat by New York/Washington/Hollywood. <<) is exactly why the Electoral College was created and why it must survive. People who live stacked on top of one another and drive down eight lanes of traffic feel perfectly justified in telling the rest of us how we should live and what we should do with our environment, since they seem to have screwed theirs up so brilliantly. Although we couldn't care less what they do with their environment and what they do with their spare time only the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the Electoral College keeps them from deciding our every breath. They seem to be unable to understand the concept of Live and Let Live.
