I know some very good ofshore hedgefund guys who are betting on the DAX heavily. Do not forget when the dollar goes down, money will head bck to Europe. The curency moves alone should underpin the loss of the market's, if they follow US lead. Recently European Markets have been pretty imune from Selling here. Furthermore the consolidation and re-habilitation of Europe is about 5 years behind the US and could indeed spurn a boom there.

Does your dad have the same broker as mine?<g> You wouldn't believe how hard it was to convince mine that his "diversified growth" portfolio was anything but diversified. I actually had to break down the top holdings of his MF's and show him the concentration in a relatively few techs he had. So of course he talks to his broker and..you guessed it..time for some overseas markets. UNREAL ... I do a bit to help out the homeless in my area, but when these brokers find themselves without a job, broke and on the street,(coming soon to a theater near you) I might just have to cut back on my time.

My Dad owns CREE. $8.00 basis. Goes up to 200, can't sell broker says going higher, down to 80 can't sell to low. Up Down Up Down Worry Worry Worry. I say, Pop set a price target and sell the SOB it trades like a french whore on dollar day. Nah, broker says it's a good long term hold. Calls the guy his money manager. This from a man who packed his own suitcase and took a bus to enlist under age for WWII. 72 and could go through Bush or Gore like crap through a goose. I believe his faith is misplaced. Clownism is hereditary. -ng-

CB, one argument I attempt to use with long term investors is that nobody can dispute that this market is the most overvalued in history and the business cycle has not been repealed so why not wait for stocks to become cheap then buy for the long term. Stock brokers don't like that because it doesn't generate commissions. Your father is also at the age where preservation of capital is more important. What is you latest read on the election/ court battles ? Thanks mike
