>>I got an email from a friend when Q dropped to the 60s.<<

My wife's former boss mentioned QCOM a few times late last year, when everyone was talking about it. QCOM was in the news because of the dramatic daily increases in it's price.
She told him that QCOM was one of our largest holdings, and explained a bit about "the gorilla group". She certainly was not trying to sell him on QCOM, but a short while later he announced that he had bought shares. Naturally, he got in at a very high price and was underwater probably by late January.

Around the end of August, while QCOM was mired in the high 50s he decided to sell and take the loss. I told my wife that while we don't want to be this guy's investment advisor, we should tell him he is probably selling near the bottom and we should let him know that we were buying more at these prices. Naturally, he did not listen, but rather completed the buy high, sell low dance.

Re: QCOM - Latest Qualcomm Corporate Slideware - Goldman, Sachs Internet Conference

"EXPANDING THE WIRELESS WORLD"

Presented by: Dr. Irwin M. Jacobs

Goldman, Sachs Sixth Annual Internet Conference

Date: November 15, 2000

qualcomm.com

This is the latest Qualcomm corporate slideware. Many of the slides have been seen before, but several have been updated. It is an excellent presentation with a focus on recently standardized 1xEV-DO (IS-856).

My favorite slide is an old one that deals with cdma2000 capabilities:
