Victor, I may be seat of the pants, but often times more sophisticated people make things more complicated than they really are. Avanex's has a very simple, elegant and powerful solution to bottle necks, get rid of them entirely. I don't care how fast your switch is, it will always be slower than an open system.

Victor, if you were a telecom trying to draw new high end customers from around the globe, would you put big money into a patched together system, or would you build a state of the art next generation optical network, that runs circles around any other system on the face of the earth? You make a good point though regarding beta verses VHS. But being that Avanex has won all kinds of industry awards for their optical gear, that tells me that sophisticated people in the optical equipment industry think highly of Avanex's products. Also we know that Avanex's customer base is growing, and contains some of the biggest names in the industry.
