That remark from EMC that NTAP is "roadkill" really pissed him off. In my experience selling iron when a company starts talking about roadkill, attack helicopters, etc., it is a sure sign that that company is already losing a competitive battle and is resorting to fear tactics to impress its customers.

Absolutely true. Remember Cabletron? The CEO used to drive around company grounds in a tank (yes, a tank), telling them they were going to win a "war" against 3Com and Cisco. Episodes like that signal not much steam left.
