A chuckle at Canadian politics....

psssssss... did you know there is an election going on in Canada right now... yes, really.... no joke...

One of the leaders of a federal party called the Canadian Alliance Party has proposed that if 350,000 Canadians got together and signed a petition they could create a referendum on that issue. Well, to say the least, it hasn't gone over that well. That would mean that just about any special interest group could create a referendum if they were determined enough.

The leader of the party is Stockwell Day a bright fellow with lots of interesting ideas. However, this idea I am sure is doomed. We have TV satire called This Hour Has 22 Minutes which has started a petition. They want a referendum. The proposal: That the leader of the Alliance party should be required to change his first name to Doris.

Funny thing is that they have had over 500,000 people sign the petition... hehe... maybe we'll have our first referendum.
