Oh, for crying out loud Joe. Now Bush Sr. halting the war in Iraq is due to the "liberal media"? Where'd you get that one from? I used to read plenty of political wackos around here, but I never heard that before.

If you want to know a little about what really happened in Iraq, you might want to look up the April Glaspie story sometime. You might have to expand your reading, though, I doubt if Drudge or the Washington Times ever picked up on that bit.

Joe, Dubya missed a perfect opportunity when Gore made his proposal. If he had countered with a call for a new election in Florida, he would have effectively neutralized anything Gore could do. The chances of a re-vote in Florida is about as close to zero as you could get, and the Gore campaign would have been put on the defensive.

Jozef RE...Your standard for a win is not a win based on the rules, but the win that is accepted by your duplicitous opponents - meaning any close win is not really a win, but possibly a loss.

Why is it that the Republicans always fall on the this self defeating game of trying to please their enemies - the liberal media? The only way to please them is to betray your cause. If W is stupid enough to play their game, he will lose. He will be praised by the liberals in the media for a week, and discarded a week after that.

I don't doubt that it is possible GW will lose, but it is more likely they will win. A win by recounting all of the votes would satisfy Als camp, because he said so, and would terminate all of the lawsuits and put an end to this. For Gw to rule effectively, he needs a mandate, and an end to the bickering. I see no other long term solution.
The only other way out I see is if Harris can give a good reason for not including the recounts, and the state supreme courts back her up, which I would consider a longer shot than GW winning the hand recount of the entire state. That might end the division, but I wouldn't count on it.There is also the possibility that 2 of the electors would change their vote if they don't feel comfortable with the process, but if Al concedes, the outcome of the vote will be assured.
