And perhaps now a court will be wise enough to put an end to the unsightly spectacle of "officials" holding ballots up to the light and trying like hell to imagine them as Gore votes...

The Florida Supreme Court issued an order to halt certification and until after it holds a hearing on Monday. The status quo will be maintained until things get sorted out.

As a practical matter, there is no way that the FL Election Board can certify Bush the winner if The recount yields more votes for Gore. Public opinion would not tolerate the loser in the FL vote receiving all the electoral votes of the state and winning the presidency.
