"Steve Appleton, Chairman of Micron Technology, says prices will continue to stay low into Q1 next year, because OEMs had expected a
memory shortage in Q4 and stocked up on DRAM chips. Now many companies have a huge oversupply which has eased demand, pushing
prices down. "

Keep in mind that Appleton has not accounted for the sdram that will be surplused because supplanted by Rambus rdram.
The intel P4 launches tomorrow and will be ramping hard in Q1, it uses only rambus, thereby displacing sdram demand. This will keep inventories of sdram high and prices low.
