Edamo,

Fancy meeting you here! <ggg> I've never owned any BRCM but watch it as it is part of one of the high flying groups I expected to get crushed sooner or later as the 'mania' unwinds. Don't know if you recall, but I posted back in February on another thread that the NAS could use a nice 2k correction <ggg>. Since we are there and the telecom/fiber group is tanking nicely, perhaps we are at or within 10% of a NAS bottom.

Regards,
John

The market is struggling with this one. With BRCM we have a superb company that is growing at a tremendous rate. If we look at PEG ratio, then one could argue that this company is relatively cheap. the danger is of course that the higher the expected growth rate, the easier it is for the co. to go off the rails. Particularly with regard to expectations. Nortel got rocked when they announced that the growth in their optical division would be 95% instead of 125%...the evidence of this struggle is that this stock got down to similar levels in April only to rocket back to new highs. Only time will tell; I bought some on Friday, but only for a trade and not in large quantity.

GROWTH RATES
1 Year 3 Years 5 Years
Sales % 139.39 189.44 169.63
EPS % 199.17 149.91 182.37
Dividend % NM NM NM

Broadcom's Q over Q is like this - their rev's are up 130% - that is in one year - their margins were even better - 140% - and their cost of revs were 110% - so which other chips have those numbers? they have been on an acquisition rampage and i believe they have done something between 12 and 16 deals in the last 2 years - so that comes into play on their PE. I can't tell you what BRCM is really worth - and in these days of wanting to take down the kings of the mountains - it had to be soon that BRCM would fall. Now they can go back up.
