RON,
I have not read any of Ayn Rand books. What is special about her? I had an aquaintance who was influenced deeply by one of her books and committed suicide. He was a brilliant kid who made it to an elite university and happened to be ranked second the year he committed suicide. He used to be first. He may have had other problems.
His suicide note extensively quoted Ayn Rand's book.

It is truly bizzare that Ayn Rand is so shunned. I think her philosophy contains too much "personal responsibility" and lack of sentimentality of liberals; and is too atheistic for conservatives.

How weird, she's too extreme on both ends for either of the currently predominant mindsets.
