11:30 ET Nortel Networks (NT) 32 1/16 -2 3/8: Merrill Lynch out defending stock; says that speculation about NT is just that - speculation; probably refers to yesterday's rumors that company lost some Qwest (Q) business to Ciena (CIEN). Merrill says that NT had no direct comment, but indicated no change in their view and comfort with major customer relationships.

NT doesn't have a p/e they lost well over a billion dollars this year.

you are talking about operating earnings. please stop making misleading statements. I wouldn't want people to think that NT had earnings when they clearly don't.

thank you,

bambs

Indeed... and I noticed you got an ignorant response from bambs. Let me guess... (since I have him on IGNORANT.. er.... INGORE scuze me). He said NT doesn't have a PE.. right? NT's PE from operations is what counts to most investors. Typically the NON-CASH expense related to acquisition costs is overlooked since it serves to mask the actually operating income... which indicates the health of the business.. the growth of the business.. the performance of the business. Masking this with non-cash related expenses provides a jaded view of the operation. NT is doing fine.... although NT does need to remain alert to competitive impacts and needs to continue to innovate. I'd hate to think that NT had the 10G fall.in their lap by luck of the draw...
