3000 votes. So the assumption is that noone voted for buchanan?

All of this is academic. In any large scale election, nothing can ever be so clean that no mistakes are made. Even if some of those buchanan votes were for gore, what's there to say that there is no 2nd set of mistakes that will balance those out.

What can gore do with those ballots? Ask for a revote? I think he has enough legal expertise on his staff to tell him what can and can't be done. And in a way, he doesn't need to do anything there, he can let his suppporters fight it out in the courts there.

On the slim chance that the judge rules that two presidential elections can be allowed for this county and disenfranchises the rest of the country, that is the one case that can easily drag out for a year as it ultimately has to go to the supreme court --- the worst possible scenario.

Let's just let to see how the mailed in ballots say, and then worry about the legal mess to follow after that. Either way it would not end.

<Nothing is simple in life.>

Then, Zeev, how do you explain George W Bush's increasing likelihood of being the pres. The guy was a manager of a baseball team till early 90's. Then governorship came his way by father's friends, his friends and the coterie of Texan republicans. Being a governor of Texas is much less demanding than, say Calif. The guy got reelected without doing much. Now, he is going to be the most powerful man in the world. I do believe in karma.
