What are you guys talking about? We stopped where we stopped because of our freaked out allies. They were afraid of pushing Iraq too hard for fear of an Arab oil reprisal.

The American government began to experience incredible pressure, particularly from France, to chill. I don't think the war had gone on long enough for Americans to want it to end. In some circles the televised clashes replaced Monday nite football as the best tv action for the week.
