I remember there were a few token troops from France (more from England) to make it look like a united nations effort. I hardly think France cast the deciding vote...
And yes, there could have been some arab oil backlash, but Kuwait and Iraqs oil fields would have been a nice prize...


Jim,

France was the most vocal...in general, the allies gave little support...I think Britain was the most supportive. As the war went on, the ally support weakened and helped very significantly to undermine the American position in the war.
