If chads are being counted that are not dislodged at all, then I think the GOP has a legitimate gripe. I have read several articles on the issue, all presenting the question as one of whether a hanging chad can be considered a legitimate vote. If chads are counted for votes that are not even punched, then I could not agree more that they should be discarded.

I know chads are perforated, but all perforations are not equal.

A voter may have thought himself fully capable of voting by punching chads, and did not think the chad’s failure to break off would mean he should have voted by other means. The point is, the nature of voting with the chad system very likely was not as clear to many voters as is pulling a lever or pushing a button. The system should be changed so that it is virtually transparent. The goal should not be to punch a chad, but to register a vote.

I am very surprised, and a little dismayed that Dems are actually counting chads that are not dislodged. I think Vinnie told me they were trying to count them, but I didn’t know they actually succeeded.

Well it appears the judge has accepted the Florida Sec State 5pm ruling. Bush wins, but without finality. (sigh)
