PHCM..covered short...made a nice 6 point gain Looking to go long sometime soon....11:28 ET ******

Phone.com (PHCM) 83 1/2 -5 7/8: The Street is turning increasingly bullish on PHCM and there could be more positive notes from the sell side on Monday. PHCM is expected to announce a new name and ticker symbol Monday before the open. The combination of Software.com (SWCM) and Phone.com is expected to be completed, and many analysts are expecting bullish revenue guidance to accompany Monday's announcement. The annual shareholders meeting is just underway in California, and the shareholders are being asked to approve the merger proposal with Software.com, provider of Internet infrastructure software for wireline and wireless service providers. The bullish expectations are being echoed by a number of firms expecting the company to upwardly revise FY01 revenue guidance. BofA Securities expects to pencil in FY01 sales north of $600 mln, up significantly from original guidance of $500-$525 million when the merger was announced in early August. Robertson Stephens believes the minimum guidance for the combined company to be $540 mln, with upside to $600 mln possible. Goldman Sachs is expecting $590 mln revenue guidance. Wherever the guidance falls, you can bet that the Street will be issuing upside estimate revisions, buy recommendations and positive comments Monday morning. Many are expecting PHCM to move up their target breakeven EBITDA or profitability date to Q4 of CY00, versus the company's prior guidance of March 2001. The reason for all the bullishness is the anticipation of widespread WAP adoption. Despite all the talk you've heard of a slowdown in wireless, the market continues to show strong growth rates and PHCM enjoys a significant leadership position. Industry forecasts expect 120% worldwide wireless subscriber growth this year, and Street analysts peg PHCM's market share for WAP software near 70%. While a 70% market share may not be sustainable for long, the most conservative estimates have them holding on to at least 40% of the total market through 2003. At 321x next year's EPS estimates, the shares aren't cheap, but it looks like they will only be more expensive next week. - Matt Gould, Briefing.com

HOT OFF THE WIRE
BELGRADE-- Serbian president Vojislav Kostunica deployed more than 30,000
peacekeeping troops to the U.S. Tuesday, pledging full support to the
troubled North American nation as it struggles to establish democracy.
"We must do all we can to support free elections in America and allow
democracy to gain a foothold there," Kostunica said. "The U.S. is a major
player in the Western Hemisphere and its continued stability is vital to
Serbian interests in that region."

Kostunica urged Al Gore, the U.S. opposition-party leader who is refusing
to recognize the nation's Nov. 7 election results, to "let the democratic
process take its course."

"Mr. Gore needs to acknowledge the will of the people and concede that he
has lost this election," Kostunica said. "Until America's political
figures learn to respect the institutions that have been put in place, the
nation will never be a true democracy."

Serbian forces have been stationed throughout the U.S., with an emphasis on
certain trouble zones. Among them are Oregon, Florida, and eastern
Tennessee, where Gore set up headquarters in Bush territory. An additional
10,000 troops are expected to arrive in the capital city of Washington,
D.C. by Friday.

Though Kostunica has pledged to work with U.S. Leaders, he did not rule out
the possibility of economic sanctions if the crisis is not resolved soon.

"For democracy to take root and flourish, it must be planted in the rich
soil of liberty. And the cornerstone of liberty is elections free of
tampering or corruption," Kostunica said. "Should America prove itself
incapable of learning this lesson on its own, the international community
may be forced to take stronger measures."
