I saw the argument before Judge Lewis. The point is that there was adequate time to comply with the deadline, and only Volusia, of the hand counting counties, did so. Thus, for the others, it was tough luck.......

Hand recounts that were finished in time were included in the certified totals on Tuesday.

Nadine, there are indeed a LOT Of laws on the books that are contrary to each other.

In this case, I'm SURE that after this is all said and done, there will be some Democrats in the Florida Legislature (sp) that will be sponsoring bills to change this conflict for FUTURE elections.

JMHO, FWIW ....

"This seems a tad peculiar as the final state of Florida elections law, to say the least."

Nobody said that Florida's laws are not peculiar. But they are the laws. I think its a bit peculiar that they allow for a recount without any standards. When the Palm Beach comittee changed the standards after counting some of the votes, you must admit that fairness may be at stake. Why did they change their standards in the middle of the process? I thought it peculiar that they changed them in a way that favored Gore.
