Alaskans tend to be unhappy about Fed control, yes, but...

What bothers many of us more are the people "who would be President" of an independent Alaska. Power hungry, money grubbing politicians exist everywhere.

FWIW, in a legal/public opinion argument, I think Hawaii would stand a far better chance of _regaining_ its independence. After all it was an established country, monarchy in place, and pretty much was rolled over by us.
