The ABC News-Washington Post poll of 610 adults was conducted Thursday and has an error margin of plus or minus 4 percentage points. The Gallup poll of 1,028 adults was conducted Monday through Wednesday and has an error margin of 3 percentage points. The Dateline NBC poll of 510 adults was taken Thursday and has a 4.5 percentage point error margin.

The instructions used to be Pay your poll tax and then ... or Check with your grandfather..

America relies on the vote for political stability. Any attempt at disenfranchisement devolves into a raw power play. I'm sure we will have congressional hearings on better voting machines and the punch card will disappear, in the mean time, it's designers agree that hand counts were the expected and proper procedure if there were enough uncounted ballots to affect a race.
