i doubt it will suffer Conseco's fate...but as a WCOM shareholder i would be enraged that the company itself is guaranteeing its CEO's margin debt. that sounds like a potentially disastrous strategy. otoh, if he's forced to sell even more, it might depress the stock further, so it's really not all that simple...
anyway, the idea to spin off MCI and make it pay dividends appeals to me....especially as i'm certain that dividends will become very fashionable in the future...
