Jane,

Sorry for the delay in answering your questions.

Will the concert be held in your town or nearby??

The concert this year will be held at our own school. There are several counties involved and about 25 high schools, but none of the kids have to travel more than about 30 miles.

Is this another new truck or the same one I was aware of?? Is your daughter feeling better today??

It's the one you know about. A year old this month. Still new to me.

Funny you should ask how she feels. She just complained of a sore throat. Probably coming down with something. I hope it's not too serious.

What kind of car is it?? Year?? Color?? And does it have a CD player???

When my son was 16, and had just obtained his driver's license, I bought him a big old clunky car, not too fast, that he could ride around in and if someone hit him in a rice burner, it would do more harm to the rice burner than to my son or his car. It was a '77 Monte Carlo. The damn hood was over 6' long. We stripped the vinyl top, repaired some body damage, and repainted it. We installed new carpet, a new CD player, a BOOM box and AMP, and a new dashboard cover. I bought him some GM rally wheels and wrapped them in wide tires. White letter. (we performed all of this together) It looked pretty cool. He drove it to several proms, loaded with other kids.

His car was voted the "Longest Car In The Parking Lot" in his senior year.

We just sold it to help him take over my Firebird Formula.

A 19 year old with a Firebird Formula? He has been very responsible, no accidents, and only one speeding ticket. (I dont know if I wrote of this previously or not, but he got a speeding ticket while rushing home to meet his Mom to go to court and pick up his first driver's license.)

We sold the "Monte" with a lot of mixed emotions.

Now for your answer. I bought my daughter an '84 Thunderbird. Still bigger than most rice burners but not as big as the "Monte". It's going to be a little faster than my son's car, since his was a lot bigger and had a carburetored 307, and her's has a fuel injected 302. Hopefully she will be "light with the right foot". It was baby blue when we bought it, now it is "almost" purple,(sort of a blue/gray) with gold metallic pinstripes. Aluminum wheels, with blackwall tires.

No, no CD player yet. Maybe for Xmas.

How is your son?? Is he still with the band he was playing with??

He is doing great in college. Made the "Dean's List". Is working for Zany Brainy, a toy store chain. He has gotten several raises and promotions. Plans on being a journalist.

A couple of key members of the band quit. They are still together, but just sort of clicking along.

And how is your youngest daughter??

She is doing great. Just won her latest gym meet.

I am constantly amazed at all of my kids and the things they accomplish. I am truly proud.

I am holding my breath as I think of all the things that are yet to come in my parenting adventure!!

Looking back, all of the experiences are fun, just trying, and sometimes costly.

Have fun,
Phil
