Just as a semantic aside in the interests of accuracy, it's unalienable as written in the Declaration by Jefferson, though these words are often used interchangeably, since the prefix un- and in- mean pretty much the same thing.

Look at your computer- do you see how Mr. I and Mr. U are right next to each other?

I don't expect anyone to defend my civil rights. I am happy that at the moment there are people doing it- I particularly like the ACLU, but I don't "expect" it.

My standards do not "ebb and flow" and they are not based on emotion.
