But the President who made conservation one of the primary goals of his administration
was Teddy Roosevelt, an ardent conservationist, who placed 150 million acres of land
into federal reserves.

LOL! Teddy gives the conservationists major heartburn. Read a few of his memoirs on hunting, he was a shooting maniac. And coming from me, I think you get the drift. -g-

Don't forget Clare Boothe Luce, who was a Republican "Congressman" (her term) before New York became a magnet for those who prefer subsidies to work. She was hardly a conventional person. She derided Henry Wallace's concept of American "freedom of the skies" in post-WW II Europe as "globaloney". The term is rather apt, I think, for describing Mr. Gore's foreign policy.

The Republican Party has lost much of its motive force in the last 50 years. We need to restore it as the party of individual freedom, anti-conformism, and small government. JMHO

<< probably didn't study American history in school>>

Coby,, That's all we were fed.....

If you really think that the Republicans represent what you say, then I can understand your thinking.
Personaly I think that the US is an Oligharcy, and who you vote for is only a con job. 50% of your voters agree. They don't even vote.
