Maybe she's been offered a tasty plum job if
she pulls Bush's nuts out of the fire

This is figurative language, right!?

Re: "It is naive and childish to believe that people are not motivated by their own
personal interests."

I agree...did I say otherwise? Nope.

Re: "I, however, do not blow people up or condemn them to Hell
when I judge them not to measure up to my standards."

Reply: Re your words: "How can you know that? How
very silly and hypocritical of you."

Now that that is settled, I'd add that I DON'T know that, I can say I only make what I feel is reasoned judgement with best information I've got.

I agree there's no reason to admire Partisans for being Partisan. However, it is you who disparaged Harris, I countered with my opinion.

Re: "Some people appear to rise above personal interests, but they merely have loftier
seeming personal interests."

I believe in our system which is set up to protect individual interests. Do that, and the Number 1 most important public interest is taken care of. Thus, there is no conflict to discuss, and nothing to rise above. Personal interests often mean, in the real world, feeling good by doing right by others. It thus comes back to personal interest. Anytime you do for others, it can make you feel good about yourself. Freedom for individuals to exercise their self interests is good not just for the individual, but also to the others that one is free and rich enough(taxless) to help out.

By the by, Jeb Bush supported Harris's competition in a reportedly brutal Republican primary.
