Hi Thomas: The mud company supplies and I suspect designs the drilling mud used to facilitate drilling. Different types for different conditions. I don't know how difficult a challenge this design process is. Perhaps someone out there could jump in with a little lesson in drilling technology, I for one would like to learn more.

I think that it is normal to have to clean some of the 'MUD' from the 'pay zone' I belive this is normally down with acid. Again technical expertise would be appreciated.

As to the cost of moving the rig, Jack said it is prohibitive given the companies cash situation. I gather that the leasing arrangements call for Shell to pay all costs involved in loading and moving the rig. I suspect that the rig would be loaded directly onto transports from the wellhead. This is a smart decision; the company can use the time to make sure that once the service rig has access, that they have a sound game plan in place.

In any event; the game is afoot, interesting times lie ahead.
