The mini-CD format does have an advantage: even if you left your player in the car, at work, etc. you can still burn a mini-CD.

That is, with a juke-box, you have to remember to carry it around with you, if you want to load new songs on it.

With the mini-CD, if you leave your player in your desk drawer on Friday, you don't have to go back into work on Saturday to retrieve it if you wanted to add new songs over the weekend.

Like I said, all sorts of different preferences for all sorts of different reasons.
