courtesy of the Barron's Mailbag:

1) In 1954, the Dow was 27% lower than it had been 25 years earlier.

2) In 1982, the Dow was 22% lower than it had been 16 years earlier.

3) The Dow doubled in the 53 years from 1929 to 1982, meaning that its average capital gain for more than a half-century was less than 2% a year.

Sung a lame song called "Wildfire" back in the 70's. -g- Just joking, but his actual history is even more interesting.

I think he still has a hedge fund and writes a news letter, tech mostly. Has a checkered past. In college he got all shagged up on LSD and such, so it is claimed, and ended up robbing banks with guns and getting caught. Felon that had some powerful friends that got the felony waived so he could get back into the investment biz. I forget exactly how it went, but don't leave your car keys laying out if he is around. -g-
