Almost everyone fights against freedom of one kind or another. Almost no one wants other people to enjoy freedom they don't like. That's what LAW is. Everyone who supports the law is fighting against freedom. Of course I would argue that such legal restraints are necessary in some instances to protect other sorts of freedoms- like the freedom not to be killed or assaulted, and the freedom not to be robbed- but it is simply a value judgment between the freedom to be free from from, and the freedom to do. Apparently the robbers and murderers lobby wasn't strong enough to get their personal freedoms to rob and murder encoded into law anywhere.

I prefer democratic freedom, and I don't want a balance.
