I am trying to estimate the revenue of SDLI and JDSU in 5 years. Any good guesstimates? 100% YoY makes a nice number.

Chase H&Q have the following:

SDLI 2000 --- Revs: $501.2 M; EPS $1.49
SDLI 2001 --- Revs: $969.9 M; EPS $2.35 (Co. says $1 Bil)

JDSU 2000 --- Revs $1.77 B; EPS $0.42
JDSU 2001 --- Revs $3.88 B; EPS $0.80

I've held both stocks since early 1998 (JDSU) and late 1998 (SDLI) and I've never known either to miss. In fact, they've always beat.

Dell'Oro isn't know for its coverage of optical networking, so anyone who wants the best, may want to look at RHK:

RHK is known for its aggressive predictions on optical networking technologies, which transmit data and voice at high speeds using light rather than electric pulses. In 1997, while most analysts were forecasting that the optical networking market would reach $300 million that year, RHK set its number at an astonishing $1.5 billion. Of course, anybody can conjure up an astronomical sum. In RHK's case, though, the result--$1.45 billion--was strikingly close to its target. "They were very early in identifying this as a key industry and built a great team to follow it," says Mary Henry, a managing director at Goldman Sachs.

For those who missed it the first time, here's John Ryan's presentation at NFOEC:

OT, does anyone have GG's latest Telecosm list? I'm doing some background checking on Velocity Capital, the firm that manages his pension money.
