My boss at work said he voted absentee in '68 while he was stationed in Vietnam. He said his sergeant looked over his shoulder while he voted so "he got it right."

Don't you think that if this sort of thing were going on that they would have made sure it got publicized?
There are so many issues this week that I get confused, but I think you are asking about the Republican party assisting the soldiers and sailors in getting absentee ballots?

Why the publicity? There is nothing illegal in trying to help the soldiers and sailors. When I was in college there were also groups devoted to getting the absentee vote and so assisted in getting ballot requests and the like. The only time it becomes illegal is when the parties involved start filling in the information, especially after the fact.
