Stevie wonder - Re: "Who counts the stacks? A machine?" The canvassing board counts the ballot stacks by hand, with observers from both sides watching and TV cameras running. Check out Cspan for this gloriously boring action. It is worse than watching a baseball game :-)

OTOH, if the people add them up, well computation is a very difficult thing to get right the first time. At least for me... Gore knows he has to go for it now because if he loses after putting us through this, he's finished. Jim
