"while Gore has a huge lead in votes cast by felons" Kanetsu - a day or two before the election, before any of this recount mess came about, I recall seeing a TV interview over the so-called battleground states. In the state of Florida, Democratic and Republican strategists were discussing the state and the closeness of it and their get out the vote campaigns. I clearly remember, because it stood out at the time, the Democratic strategist talking gleefully about what he believed to be a forgetten group of voters that the Gore campaign targeted in Florida. Any guess as to what it could be? You got it - the prison vote. He basically said the campaign realized their is a large number of prisoners, most of whom are incarcerated, that the Gore campaign went after to register, request absentee ballots and have vote.
