Dear Ken: OK, I read the reference you gave. Personally I think the Fed HAS overdone it and have said that for a long time not just now. I think this Christmas season ought to give us a picture of what is going on, I suspect not good. Just this election mess alone is enough to give people pause I would think. I also note that if you read the entire article I believe they say in the details they give a recession risk 40% at this time. So, what to do? Seems to me, you have two choices, go to cash or stick with companies expected to do well (maybe not as well as before but well compared to the average) and ride it out. I would think companies such as SUNW and EMC fit that mold. As for myself, I believe I already made it clear, if Gore is elected, I will go to cash as soon as I can and still come out with a reasonable profit. (ie take advantage of a relief rally if there is one). this is because I dont trust the man, I think he will stifle business initiative through taxes and regulatory toughening. Remember how many times he mentioned those NASTY BIG COMPANIES in his Rhetoric. Frankly, half my portfolio now is in fixed income securities so I am not adverse to them, I just prefer equities normally. JDN
