A couple of things you might try are:
1. Set your BIOS to its default setting.
2. Try booting Windows in the Safe Mode

Can you still boot to a DOS boot disk?

Can you still access the bios?

replace it but it is soldered on. The motherboard is a abit bh6 running pentium 3 w/500mhz processor 128mb ram.

Hi Stephen, I have a Abit BH6 rev 1.0x (early) 533A/800, 128 MB Ram. My BIOS chip is replaceable, ( I have a spare). Haven't ran across one soldered on. You can order a new one from Abit, $10 chip, $5 UPS, $5 COD. They ship COD only, no credit cards.

Try Zeuspaul's tricks. Put jumper on pin 2 and 3. Try and boot up for a few seconds then shut down and reverse to pin 1 & 2. Also remove the battery for a few seconds and try again. Also, Hold down INSERT key while trying to boot. Try these tricks individually.

Call Abit at 510-623-0500 and they'll send you a bios chip COD for $20.00 (ground) or I believe $22.50 for 2/3 day air.

Battery, Lithium, CR2023.
Bios, Bios Chip, -2A69KA1EC-NV, ( I think the latest BIOS for early rev 1.0x is SS instead of NV)

Sorry about the problems,
