Your hubby is wrong; the progressive movement was not communist. Remember Trotsky was dead, and with him went the spirit of the "international". Stalinism (the ONLY real commununist force in the world at the time) was nationalist, not internationalist; in other words: the Soviet Union came first, not international communism. You say "Front", well that is a term from the 1930's as in the "popular front" governments of France, Spain and elsewhere Before the Second World War. These movements WERE sanctioned by Moscow but the war ended that. If you or your hubby think that Henry Wallace was a communist you are mistaken and should read up and learn the error of your ways. Actually, Henry Wallace may have given more to the world than any other politican in modern times; in his other life outside of politics he was a brilliant botanist and all by himself developed (and marketed and promoted) hybrid corn; something that has been of real benefit to billions. Any in your republican stable match that? WSR
