Once again, the rule-of-law Republicans are clueless as to what that phrase means.

<<Who gave them the authorization to continue the hand count>>

Florida Circuit Court Judge Terry Lewis gave them authorization.

The Florida Supreme Court gave them authorization (unanimous).

U.S. District Court Judge Donald Middlebrooks gave them authorization.

The U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals gave them authorization (unanimous).

And of course Florida law gave them authorization.

Plus Jesus wants it this way, but that's not a rule of law.

What I know for sure is that the entire Bush camp has been frantically bad-mouthing manual recounts for the last week. You would think the Democrats had just invented the diabolical idea, instead of it being part of the normal electoral process in a tight election, according to the laws of Florida.
So I think they've lost credibility on the issue of allegations -- I'll believe the allegations when I hear them backed up by an impartial source. Some of the allegations I've heard are actually non-allegations -- this evening, the Republicans complained that Bush ballots had been put in the Gore pile, but then they had to admit that the Democratic observer had pointed this out to them!
After completing about one-third of the recount, Broward county has reported that Gore gained about 50 votes. If the Democrats are stealing votes, they are not doing a very efficient job of it. Could it be that manual recount is actually proceeding in an orderly and lawful manner? Or is that too remote a possibility to consider?
