I saw a Naval recruiting officer in a convenience store Thursday the 16th. I asked him his thoughts on the current administration, as well as the possibility of a Gore victory in this election. He said " My official position is that Clinton is my Commander in Chief, and I am unable to give you my heartfelt position". On Gore becoming his new CIC, he repeated " My official position is that Gore could be my Commander in Chief, and I am unable to give you my heartfelt position". An elderly woman was listening to our conversation and commented something to the effect of not blaming him for having an official position and his true position. I thanked him for his service and he left smiling. Sad but true. alan w
