Those are Intel benchmarks. I'm not surprised you're posting hysterically - you're at your butt sniffing best tonight. This is pretty bad news for Intel, isn't it? How many years until the next core is due out? The Willamette P4 looks mediocre or worse, but maybe they can fix it in Northwood. At least the .13 P3 is only a year away - that might be competitive. You know, I've been thinking about the raw MHZ issue (MHZ sells), and it may not be as much of a problem for AMD as I had thought. The magazine editors and web site guys are all into hardware and writing and the fact is that they don't usually have much to write about. Apple comes out with a new case color or AMD or Intel comes out with a 10% faster version of the exact same thing they've been selling. But here, finally, is a real story. The new Intel chip has a higher clock rating but about the same performance as existing (lower clocked chips). Now that is interesting, requires some real explaining, and is generally a real challenge for writers and editors. It's not cut and dried, there are real variations on when it's fast and when it's slow and in general it's just a really interesting thing to write about. Quite a change from a new case color or a predictable increment in clock speed. So we may well see the drawbacks in P4's performance extensively, exhaustively, and repeatedly reported on. Isn't that a great thought? :-) Dan
